Climate change – do traffic, tourism and energy supply have to adapt? New bifa-Text published

Apart from close cooperation with the Bavarian chambers of trade and industry and the GLOWA-Danube project (LMU), the method used primarily focussed on actively involving companies in the research process: In the interests of "Learning from practice for practice", so-called climate agendas were developed together in interviews and workshops. Climate agendas are scenarios, which are tailored to each of the three selected industries. They contain all the relevant consequences of climate change, the resulting opportunities and risks and ideas for strategy development and innovation in companies. They are intended to be used as a navigation aid for these companies and offer suggestions on how to respond to climate-induced developments.

The bifa-Text shows numerous examples, for example, how an hotelier in the Bavarian Forest, a carrier from the Upper Palatinate region or an energy producer from Swabia perceives climate change: Surprisingly, it was not so much the risks that guided their actions but rather the opportunities. Above all, opportunities were described for opening up new markets through the topics of efficiency, resource conservation and new technologies.

bifa-Text No. 59 "Climate change - do transport, tourism and energy supply have to adapt?" ("Klimawandel – müssen sich Verkehr, Tourismus und Energieversorgung anpassen?") is available to purchase immediately from www.bifa.de for a price of Euro 14.50 + VAT + p&p.
