Eco-Solar project awarded the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label”
According to the foundation, the new label is intended to serve as a reliable label for products, processes and services, which represent a quality guarantee for those who want to implement clean solutions.
The EU project, which is being carried out together with several international partners, was evaluated by independent experts with regard to technological feasibility, ecological and socio-economic benefits and profitability. The project examined the production, use and recycling of solar modules in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Environmental compatibility and sustainability during the production process and the entire life cycle of the solar modules were taken into account. This makes production more energy and resource-efficient and more cost effective. The total environmental impact reduces by 45% and the manufacturing costs by 9%.
During the entire project period, new ways of reducing raw material consumption and facilitating the recycling of production waste and scrap modules were developed. To this end, the production processes were analysed, the waste streams identified and checked for best possible use, either on the photovoltaics market or in other sectors of industry.
