The Future of Energy in Fuchstal: Groundbreaking ceremony for the heat station
The municipality of Fuchstal in the rural district of Landsberg am Lech already has a hydropower plant, photovoltaic systems, modern wind turbines, a biogas plant and a steadily growing heat network. Since 2017, the municipality, the engineering consultancy Ingenieurbüro Sing in Landsberg and the bifa Umweltinstitut have been designing and planning the current project that, among other things, includes a 5000 m³ hot water heat accumulator, a battery energy storage system and a power-to-heat module. The innovative project, funded by the Federal Environment Agency, will enable biogas CHP heat and power from the wind turbines to be used in a significantly more extensive way through conversion and storage. The operation of all components is coordinated using intelligent control technology.
All the project participants as well as political decision-makers and representatives of the press all came to the groundbreaking ceremony, which marks the start of construction of the heat station. The First Mayor, Erwin Karg, welcomed the guests and in his address he explained how much work and staying power are necessary for the project. The member of the German parliament, Michael Kießling from Landsberg, as well as the deputy district administrator, Landrat Markus Wasserle from Kaufering, emphasised the uniqueness and nationwide importance of this showcase project. Robert Sing and Lucy Gronitz of Ingenieurbüro Sing explained the planned plants. The event, held in compliance with hygiene and distancing rules, enabled the guests to engage in conversation with each other and to discuss further ideas for the future of energy in Fuchstal.
