KLIK – closing event at the Swabian Chamber of Commerce

For SMEs, CSRD will become serious from 2026

To strengthen non-financial reporting, the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (NFRD) was introduced in 2014 and transposed into German law with the adoption of the CSR Directive Implementation Act.

The current version of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will have a broader scope and stricter reporting requirements from 2024 onwards, which will also affect many SMEs. In addition to the CSRD, the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) were published with Regulation (EU) 2023/2772 of July 31, 2023, which compile the disclosure requirements for data and information that a company is required to report.

Sustainability reporting and corporate financing in focus

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Swabian Chamber of Commerce (IHK Schwaben) and the bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH, together with BF/M-Bayreuth e. V. and the Chair of Finance and Banking at the University of Bayreuth, will be offering an exciting event on the topics of sustainability reporting, climate risks, sustainable finance and lending processes. This event is specifically aimed at SMEs that are interested in learning about and implementing the CSRD and the latest developments in the field of ESRS. One highlight of the event is the presentation of a practical guide for SMEs that was developed as part of the BMBF-funded research project “KliK – Klimaberichterstattung bei KMU” (Climate Reporting for SMEs). These guidelines offer practical instructions and strategies for companies to fulfill the requirements of sustainability reporting efficiently and in compliance with the law. Take the opportunity to experience this valuable tool first hand and ask questions directly to the developers and other experts.
