Workshop event of the KliK research project on sustainability reporting

Fulfilling duty, recognising opportunities as part of the Nuremberg DIGITAL FESTIVALS 2023 at the Nuremberg Business and Science Council House

In cooperation with the Nuremberg Economic Development Agency and the NKubator Nuremberg, the BMBF-funded research project KlimFi: Climate Reporting at SMEs (KliK) offered a full-day workshop on the regulatory requirements and current legislative proposals for sustainability reporting on 10.06.2023 in Nuremberg. The workshop was aimed in particular at executives and sustainability managers in companies.

The event was moderated by Ruth Berkmüller, sociologist and research associate at bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH.

In addition to the presentations by Dr.-Ing. Fatah Naji (bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH) on the topic of "Instruments and tools for your own sustainability report" and by Johanna Wagner (Chair of Business Administration I at the University of Bayreuth) on "Overview of legal foundations and regulatory requirements as well as already existing standards and frameworks", all participants discussed the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in corporate practice in group work. Under the leadership of Monika Bokelmann and Ruth Berkmüller, (bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH), relevant (professional) competences in companies for the preparation of sustainability reporting were determined with the help of methods that promote communication and creativity. On the basis of case studies, a materiality matrix was developed taking into account dual materiality in accordance with the requirements of the CSRD. Using the gallery method, a conference and brainwriting method that combines solution approaches through intuitive generation of ideas and a logical-structured approach to the respective problems, process maps with all relevant processes of a company for the preparation of sustainability reporting were developed within the framework of case studies.

The results of the workshop will be processed and summarised by bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH and the Chair of Business Administration I and then published.
