Making climate resilience tangible – KlaR!
Citizens help shape
With the “KlaR: Climate Adaptation Regensburg – Making Resilience Tangible” project, bifa is pursuing the research objective of making climate adaptation visible and tangible for the residents, in cooperation with and using the example of the city of Regensburg.
As part of a diverse participatory process, possibilities for climate-resilient urban development are being examined together with the urban society. For this purpose, two squares, Augustinerplatz and Alter Kornmarkt, were selected in the research project funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, in order to explore the potential for climate adaptation in the old town using these as examples.
A workshop process is currently underway, which began with a summer workshop and a citizens' survey in July. Citizens are being given the opportunity to develop ideas for redesigning the squares – models are being built and ideas tested creatively and constructively, for example using the LEGO® Serious Play® method. Selected ideas are to be implemented in the squares as temporary pilot adaptation measures in the further course of the project.
