Regional climate protection conference in Neusäß

Regio Augsburg Wirtschaft GmbH hosted the 6th Climate Protection Conference on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Over 180 participants confirmed the great interest in the topic.

The commitment and the already existing variety of climate protection projects in the region were presented in numerous contributions. bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH was also represented with an information booth at the accompanying marketplace.

Making the trades fit for the climate

bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH presented the project "Concepts for Adaptation to Climate Change for Companies in the Timber Industry" as an example of good practice. The project team, consisting of Taglieber Holzbau GmbH from Oettingen, LMU Klinikum, HWK Schwaben and bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH, jointly analyzed the vulnerability to the effects of climate change and the resulting consequences using a mix of methods including surveys, participant observation and workshop formats. The focus was on products, employees, customers and suppliers.

Developing measures and strategies

The measures were published in an adaptation concept, including information material on health protection. The aim of the project, which was funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), was to find sustainable ways to integrate aspects of climate change and extreme weather events into climate-sensitive areas of activity of companies in the (timber) construction industry and to promote the climate adaptation skills of the stakeholders involved.

Taglieber Holzbau GmbH has responded to the challenges of climate change by participating in the project and has already started to implement adaptation measures in its business processes during the final phase of the project.
