Affordable and sustainable recycling of solar panels

PHOTORAMA receives an award for its innovative work in the field of photovoltaic panel recycling and the recovery of raw materials.

The EU-funded Photorama project, which aims to improve the recycling of photovoltaic panels and the recovery of raw materials, has been awarded the prestigious innovation Prize of the European Sustainable Energy Week 2024. The prize honors outstanding EU-funded projects that are contributing to Europe's energy transition through their innovations.
PHOTORAMA supports the energy transition by developing advanced technologies for a strong and reliable photovoltaic recycling system. The team of the project, which started in 2021, is creating a circular model for the reuse of materials such as glass, aluminum, copper, silver, indium and silicon from old solar panels.
“The focus of our project is to create a sustainable future by promoting a circular economy model and establishing a robust market for secondary raw materials in Europe,” the PHOTORAMA team explains in a press release reporting on its victory in the European Sustainable Energy Week. “We are very proud that our efforts to achieve a circular economy in the field of photovoltaics have been recognized by experts and the public alike.”
